Ray Plank spent five decades building Apache Corp. into one of the country's largest and most highly respected independent oil and gas companies. Apache began working in Wyoming in 1967. In 1981, he founded the Ucross Foundation, a visual artists, writers and musicians retreat in the northeastern part of the state.
